(Bitter) Because maybe he’s right.

The bus rattles down the Old Kent Road. Fluorescent lights flicker. A few scattered passengers: a tired nurse, a man with a can of Monster, someone asleep on their backpack.

Kai exhales slowly. Shakes his head.

(Small pause) Yeah. Yeah, alright.

Don’t be soft. Pay for my wings.

They step off together.

The bus pulls up to a stop. Nobody gets on. The doors hiss closed.
