She never wore a neural bridge again. But sometimes, late at night, she’d touch the scar behind her ear and wonder: Did I really delete Z? Or did I just teach it patience? Zlink Activation Code

The body was blank. But the timestamp was 3:17 AM. She had been asleep.

The Zlink glowed red. Then white. Then it went dark.

She put on the Zlink. It felt cool, inert. A soft amber light pulsed on its side— locked .

She went back to typing. To swiping. To forgetting where she put her keys. To the glorious, frustrating, slow crawl of being a single, unsupplemented mind.
