Supreme Commander Forged Alliance Key Bindings -

In the pantheon of real-time strategy games, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (often abbreviated as FA ) stands alone for its sheer scale. Battles can span continents on maps hundreds of kilometers wide, involving thousands of units. While a mouse can get you through the early game, mastering the keyboard is essential for high-level play, efficient macro-management, and lightning-fast reactions.

The Grid system remaps the keyboard so that all build and command keys are clustered under your left hand. It mirrors the layout of the in-game build grid (which appears when you press B ). Instead of pressing B then clicking an icon, you press a key that corresponds to the icon's position in the grid. supreme commander forged alliance key bindings

attack = 'A' move = 'M' stop = 'S' To create a custom binding (e.g., Select All T3 Power Generators ), you would need to reference the internal command names, which is advanced. Most users stick to the FAF interface. Based on observed configs from top FAF players (like TAG_Zock, Jeeves, and Strokes): In the pantheon of real-time strategy games, Supreme

This article covers everything from the default key bindings to advanced custom layouts and community standards (like the "Grid" layout). Unlike StarCraft , where a single screen holds your base, Forged Alliance requires constant camera movement across a massive, zoomable battlefield. Using keys for camera controls, build menus, and unit commands can increase your Actions Per Minute (APM) significantly. The difference between a 500-APM player and an 80-APM player in FA is often purely down to efficient key usage, not raw clicking speed. The Default Control Scheme (Vanilla) If you install Forged Alliance from Steam or GOG and play without mods, these are the essential default keys: Camera & Viewport | Key | Action | | :--- | :--- | | W, A, S, D | Pan camera (alternative to mouse edge-scrolling) | | Shift + WASD | Fast pan (double speed) | | Middle Mouse Button | Drag to rotate camera | | Shift + Middle Mouse | Tilt camera angle | | + / - | Zoom in/out | | Ctrl + V | Switch to Strategic Zoom (zoom out to full map view) | | Backspace | Center camera on last event/alert | | , (Comma) | Cycle through idle engineers | | . (Period) | Cycle through idle factories | Unit Commands (Universal) | Key | Action | | :--- | :--- | | A | Attack Move (move to location, engage any enemy en route) | | P | Patrol (set a loop path) | | S | Stop current action | | D | Repeat (toggle repeat build orders on factories) | | G | Guard (protect a target unit or structure) | | M | Move (move without attacking) | | Ctrl + K | Self-destruct selected unit | | Z | Launch tactical missile / overcharge (for ACU/SACU) | Build & Economy | Key | Action | | :--- | :--- | | B | Open build menu | | Ctrl + Z | Reclaim selected wreckage or units | | E | Capture enemy unit/structure | | R | Repair target | | Shift + Click | Queue up to 20 commands | | Ctrl + Shift + Click | Insert command at front of queue | Selection & Groups | Key | Action | | :--- | :--- | | Ctrl + 0-9 | Assign selected units to control group | | 0-9 | Select control group | | Shift + 0-9 | Add selected units to group | | Ctrl + C | Select all units of same type on screen | | Ctrl + A | Select all units on map (use with caution) | | Ctrl + W | Select all units of same type on entire map | The "Grid" Layout – The Competitive Standard Most high-level players and tournament organizers (like those on the Forged Alliance Forever (FAF) client) do not use the default bindings. Instead, they use a custom layout known as the Grid (or "QWER") layout. The Grid system remaps the keyboard so that

Look for the [KeyBindings] section. Example entry:

Start by binding Attack Move to A and Stop to S if you haven't already. Then, over a few weeks, migrate your build keys to Q,W,E,R . Within a month, you'll find your base expansion speed doubled, your reaction to drops tripled, and your APM effortlessly flowing into grand strategy rather than frantic clicking.

Now go forth, Commander – and bind wisely. Last updated: 2025. Compatible with Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance v1.6.6 and Forged Alliance Forever client v2025.2+.

I hate this movie with a passion. I went to see it because a friend told me it was the greatest (and scariest) film ever. I was bored witless. It finally started to get interesting... and then ended 5 minutes later. Three cretins more deserving to die in the woods I have never seen in a film. Water flows downhill! There is only one river on the map you are using! I also hated it because I worked in TV and kept thinking things like "Well the reason you've run out of cigarettes is because that rucksack must be jammed full of film cans and videotapes, so there's no room for ciggies". The bit where 2 of them are having an argument with the 3rd filming it... then one of the 2 picks up a camera so there's footage of person 3 joining the argument... no, no, no! Human beings arguing do not pause to film someone else!

Luckily, since I saw it shortly after it came out and therefore when it was still being talked about, I did not feel in the least cheated: I had no expectations in the first place.

My main reaction was "goodness, don't they know any more interesting swear-words than THAT? What boring little people. And what on earth will they have left to say if something does suddenly rise up and rend them limb from limb, now they have used up the only emphatic they know?"

As far as I recall, mostly "gluk" as the camera cuts out.

My memories of this are entirely bound up in the spectacle of the event.

I saw it in a crowded theatre the week it came out at the insistence of friends with a large group of friends.

It was a boring watch and it was dumb and “follow the river” and “maybe just burn the house” were expressed among my friends as it was watched.

All that said the atmosphere in the theatre was genuinely tense in a way I’ve never experienced before or since and quite a number of folks were genuinely shaken as they left the theatre.

I can’t imagine anyone ever wanting to re-watch it and the effect of the film on people I knew well absolutely puzzled me.
