is one such stable release that many industrial sites still rely on. However, finding this specific version on Schneider’s new "EcoStruxure" website can feel like a scavenger hunt. Here is how to do it safely.

Let me know in the comments—I’ve seen every migration error possible. Disclaimer: This post is for informational purposes. Always verify your software licensing rights with Schneider Electric before downloading.

Before you search, note that SoMachine Basic has been superseded by EcoStruxure Machine Expert Basic . While v1.6 is no longer in mainstream support, Schneider still hosts it for registered users with maintenance contracts.

Only install SoMachine Basic v1.6 if you have a specific machine that requires it. For new development, use (v2.0+). But if you need v1.6, stick to the official channels, use a virtual machine (Windows 7), and never trust third-party download sites.

If you are maintaining legacy machinery or working with older Schneider Electric M221, M241, or M251 PLCs, you know the struggle: newer software versions don’t always play well with old firmware. Sometimes, you simply need the exact version that was used when the machine was commissioned.
