I just had a massive nostalgia hit and reinstalled Luxonix Purity (the 16-bit virtual synth/rompler). For those who don’t know, this was the plugin for chipstep, video game music, and early 2000s trance (think Basshunter, Sonic, and flash games). luxonix purity vst plugin
Even though it’s older software, I’m surprised at how lightweight it is. It loads instantly and has that distinct "cheesy but good" 16-bit character that modern wavetable synths lack.
It’s 32-bit, it’s tiny, and it aliases like crazy – but nothing else sounds quite like it. Pure nostalgia in a plugin.
