Stay out of the tall grass.
That is the real Far Cry 2.
In the vanilla 1.00 and 1.02 patches, your buddies (the mercenaries who helped you) were mortal. Truly mortal. If you got ambushed and went down, a buddy would sprint through gunfire to jam a syringe into your chest. But if that buddy took a stray bullet during the rescue? They died. Permanently. Their body stayed on the map. You’d get a radio call later: “I’m not going to make it.”
Released in early 2009, this 47MB executable file didn't just tweak weapon damage or fix a clipping issue. It reached into the very soul of the game and pulled out its heart. To this day, the question “Should I install Patch 1.04?” is enough to start a fistfight in a veteran gaming forum.
Then came Patch 1.04.
